
He attended Hillsboro Public Schools and graduated in 1963.
During his college years, he attended Bethany College in Lindsborg, KS, and graduated in 1967 with a Bachelor of Music degree. He then went to East Carolina University, in Greenville, NC, and graduated in 1969 with a Master of Music degree.
Dennis taught music in Canton, KS and Belleville, KS for 4 years.
He worked for Farm Bureau Mutual Ins. Co. for 43 years, and retired in 2015.
Survivor's include his wife, Martha Pottberg, of Manhattan, KS; 2 step-children; a son in law; 3 step-grandchildren; a sister, Phyllis Neuenschwander, of Hillsboro, KS; a sister in law, Garnett Laubhan; 1 nephew, Murray Laubhan (Rachel), of Pratt, KS; nieces, Emmie Buller (Darcey), of Goessel, KS, Gaye Funk (David), of Hillsboro, KS, Lori Hamm (Myron), of Salpupa, OK, Karen Laubhan, Augusta, KS; and numerous grand nephews and nieces.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Eldon and Loren; and nephews Marc Laubhan and Brad Neuenschwander.
A memorial service was held at the Zion Lutheran Church, 106 N Lincoln St., Hillsboro, KS, on May 8, 2026, at 10:30 A.M.
