Dr. Elaine Hunter

February 28, 1942 - February 13, 2025

Elaine Hunter was born in Fredonia, Kansas. Elaine graduated from Manhattan High School in 1960. She attended and graduated from Kansas State University in 1964. Elaine received her master's degree from Wichita State University and her Doctorate from the University of South Carolina.  Elaine is predeceased by her husband James Umland, her parents, Scott and Lorena Hunter, her sister Mary Ann Hamilton and her brother John Hunter. Elaine is survived by her daughter, Kendra Audette of Liberty Township, Ohio, her son Kelly Carmichael (wife Val) of Austin, Texas and three grandchildren, Jessica Carmichael, Scott Byrd, and Lauren Carmichael.  A memorial service will be held at the Unitarian Church in Charleston, SC on March 29 at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation to the Cancer Research Institute.
